A historic LGBTQ+ public arts project in the City of Atlanta that symbolizes acceptance, unity and tolerance for the LGBTQ+ community and its allies. In 2014 Robert petitioned The City of Atlanta to install a permanent symbol of diversity and dignity for all LGBTQ+ people, in the Midtown neighborhood of Atlanta. He went up against many obstacles and adversities, but he held on strong to the vision of the Rainbow Crosswalks and the meaning behind them. After receiving approval from the city, He began a GoFundMe campaign which received close to $50,000 in donations. With his leadership the Rainbow crosswalks were installed and then made a permanent fixture in 2017. The remaining funds were then donated to notable non-profit organizations in the city of Atlanta.  The Rainbow Crosswalks our the City of Atlanta’s first major LGBTQ+ public art project.

Principal/Founder

In 2006 Robert founded RSJdesign, LLC, now an award-winning interior design firm specializing in luxury residential and commercial spaces. Timeless elegance, mastery of the design process, and a love for refinement and the exquisite are all central elements in the RSJ design philosophy.

Robert was born on the Island of Puerto Rico, so naturally his first visions of interior spaces ranged from Spanish Colonial Villas infused with Caribbean colors, to the traditional neoclassical architecture of the mid-18th century. One of Robert’s first design projects was at age ten when asked to help in remodeling the family home, drawing architectural and interior plans, and cultivating in the process what would later become a passionate and ever evolving career.

To hone his natural design skills, Robert entered The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale in 2004 where he graduated summa cum laude. Afterwards he began his career at Valley Forge Textiles, the world’s largest supplier of decorative upholstery fabrics for the hospitality industry. There he would create and execute interior design schemes for ultra-premium hoteliers like The Biltmore, Caesar’s Palace, Mandarin Oriental, Nikko, Le Meridian, W, Ritz Carlton, and Lowes, to name just a few. But in 2008, Robert moved to New York City where he began working with industry leader fashion houses Polo Ralph Lauren, Rugby Ralph Lauren, Lacoste, OPRAH Magazine, and Kenneth Cole, eventually assuming the role of acting Global Visual Manager of the Calvin Klein “HOME” collection.

Now armed with his considerable fashion expertise and an affinity for period architecture and bygone design styles, Robert is translating his experiences abroad in some of the world’s most prestigious living environments into his own lifestyle brand producing unique fine unisex jewelry and luxury home fragrances and candles.  “RSJ Collection,”. He is also the Founder of The Atlanta Rainbow Crosswalks, a historic LGBTQ+ public arts project in the City of Atlanta that symbolizes acceptance, unity, and tolerance.

RSJ’s goal and mission is to provide comprehensive design services to clients seeking customized, elegant, and modern living spaces, environments that ultimately incorporate a client’s own personal styles and affinities.
